Telangana registers 218 new COVID-19 cases, one fatality on Tuesday

Hyderabad, Oct 5 :Telangana’s cumulative COVID-19 cases reached 6,66,971 with 218 new confirmed infection cases recorded until 1730 hours today.

After one person died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the death toll has risen to 3,924 till date translating a case fatality rate of 0.58 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.3 per cent, according to the bulletin issued by the Office of the Director Public Health and Family Welfare here tonight.

As many as 248 people have recovered from coronavirus statewide as of Tuesday take the overall number of recoveries to 6, 58,657 constituting a recovery rate of 98.75 per cent while the national recovery rate was 97.90 per cent.

The active cases in the state currently stand at 4,390, the bulletin said.

In all, 46,578 samples were tested in the state during the last 24 hours to detect the contagious virus out of which the results of 1488 swab samples are awaited.

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic 2,65,89,959 COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far, the bulletin said.

Among the districts, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Karimnagar is the main contributor of the infection by registering a maximum of 69 new coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours followed by Medchal Malkajigiri (15), Karimnagar & Nalgonda (14) and Rangareddy (11).

The day’s remaining coronavirus cases have been registered by other districts, the bulletin added.(UNI)
