Navratri 2021 sans garba, processions: Maharashtra govt

Mumbai, Oct 5 : Though Maharashtra government has permitted it to reopen religious places from October 7, the pre-COVID fanfare around ‘Navratri’ will still be missing as the state has said no to garba and processions.

The temples along with other religious spots will be reopened on the auspicious ‘Ghatasthapana’ or first day of Navratri.

However, the authorities have asked to maintain strict adherence to COVID norms.

Besides barring garba dance in societies, the height of Durga idols have also been restricted to four feet while only five people are allowed to perform pooja on stage.

Considering the threat of a third COVID wave, the religious places were allowed to open with 50 per cent capacity. Meanwhile senior citizens and children aged below 10 were not allowed to visit such places.(UNI)
