Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 22 : Showing no respite from rising number of COVID cases and deaths, Kerala Today reported fresh 19,675 positive cases and 142 deaths.

About 19,702 people have recovered from the disease today, a press release from the health department said this evening.

Meanwhile, 142 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid taking the death toll in the state to 24,039.

About 1,19,594 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. Currently 4,81,195 people are under observation in the state — 4,57,822 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 23,373.

In hospitals today, 1,701 people were admitted with virus Infection.

Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 10 at 841 wards where strict restriction is being imposed.

In the last 24 hours, Covid was not detected in any person who recently came to Kerala from the UK. So far, 11 people who came from the UK were diagnosed with the genetically modified.(UNI)
