Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 29 :Showing no respite from rising number of COVID cases and deaths, Kerala today reported fresh 12,161 positive cases and 155 deaths.

About 17,862 people recovered from the disease today, according to a release from the health department.

Meanwhile, 155 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid, taking the death toll in the state to 24,965.

About 90,394 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. Currently, 4,56,952 people are under observation in the state — 4,36,837 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 20,115 in hospitals.

Today, 1,284 people were admitted to hospital with virus infection.

Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 10 per cent at 745 wards where strict restriction is being imposed.

In the last 24 hours, Covid was not detected in any person who recently came to Kerala from the UK. So far, 11 people who came from the UK were diagnosed with the virus.(UNI)
