SM Krishna to inaugurate Mysuru Dasara
Bengaluru, Sep 28 :Former Karnataka chief minister SM Krishna will inaugurate Nadahabba Mysuru Dasara 2021, said state Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Krishna’s name was finalised in the high-level committee meeting chaired by Mr Bommai.
Previously, the festival was inaugurated by Kannada poet Nazir Ahmed and Infosys Foundation Chairperson Sudha Murty.
In 2017 Siddaramaiah, who was then the chief minister, had marked the beginning of Dasara festival at the Chamundeshwari Temple.
The inauguration of the festivities atop Chamundi Hills, Jambu Savari, and lighting of the entire city for 10 days of Dasara festivities, Bommai said.
Mysuru Dasara will begin on October 7.
The tradition was inherited by the Wadiyars from the rulers of Vijayanagar empire.
The Dasara celebrations have been documented by medieval travellers such as Abdur Razzak of Persia and Domingo Paes of Portugal.(UNI)
