Mah: Rains continues to play havoc in the Marathwada region

Aurangabad, Sep 26: Heavy rains continue to lash most parts of Marathwada region of Maharashtra state causing flood like situation at several places and damaging standing crop in the region, it was reported here today.
Reports reaching here from different district headquarters stated that, Jalna district has been the worst affected from the rain since the last couple of days and it also received record heavy rainfall on Saturday.

In Patoda village in Mantha taluka, the water of Ramtirtha river entered in the houses of many people,thus cutting off the village from the surrounding areas. The river Sukhapuri in Ambad taluka was also flooded for four hours.
While in Aurangabad district moderate rainfall recorded at many places.
Beed district also reported light rainfall.
In Jintur taluka of Parbhani district, continues rains has been going on for the last two days.

Due to heavy rains of Saturday in Lower Dudhna Dam in Selu taluka, 14 gates were opened and water was released in Dudhna river basin.
In Hingoli district, due to water logging on the road from Digras Kale Fata to the village in the district, the traffic on the road connecting several villages was disrupted.
Twelve gates of the biggest Siddheshwar dam in Aundha taluka of the district were opened for the fourth day in a row to release the water into the river.
Reports from Osmanabad district said that the river Terna was also flooded due to heavy rains in Ujani area of ​​district. As a result, the connection between the two villages was cut off due to the rapid flow of water from the bridge on the Ujani-Ekambi road.

There is a possibility of the water filling the lower Terna dam at Makani in the district due to the incessant rains.

The Irrigation Department has warned the riverside villages that if the dam is filled, water will have to be released in the river Terna basin, reports said.
It may noted that the region has so far recorded 134 percent of annual rainfall which has caused severe damage to several lakh hectors of land as well as caused land erosion in many places .
Panchanama works is under way but due to the fresh rains the work has been hampered.(UNI)
