Thane, Sep 23: With the addition of 284 new coronavirus positive cases, the infection count in the Thane district of Maharashtra rose to 5,57,139, an official said today.

These new cases were reported on Wednesday, he said.

During the same period, 6 more people died from COVID-19, thereby taking the death toll in the district to 11,386. The mortality rate currently stands at 2.04 percent, he added.

In the neighboring Palghar district, the COVID-19 case count has gone up to 1,35,526 while the death toll is 3,273 an official from Palghar said. (UNI)
