New Delhi, Sep 3: A Special Insurance scheme is being considered for all the Anganwadi Workers, Women, and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani said today.
The minister made this announcement while addressing Anganwadi Workers across the nation as part of the ‘POSHAN Maah’ celebrations being undertaken throughout the month of September under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, celebrations to mark 75 years of independence.
An official statement said the Minister informed that a ‘Special Insurance scheme’ is being considered for all the Anganwadi Workers, and for that, State Governments have been requested to take necessary steps so that insurance cover can be provided to them.
The Minister thanked all the Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi helpers for their determined and tireless efforts, especially during the Covid-19 Pandemic, towards ensuring the overall betterment of women and children.
She also said Anganwadi Centres will be provided with state-of-the-art infrastructure and support, and through POSHAN 2.0, Anganwadi centers will be made more competent (Saksham Anganwadi) through better infrastructure.
Mission Poshan 2.0 was launched by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in February 2021 to prevent any further backsliding of nutrition indicators. (UNI)
