Telangana reports 318 new COVID-19 cases, 2 fatalities

Hyderabad, Sep 3 : Telangana state reported 318 new COVID-19 cases until 1730 hours on Friday, to push the cumulative caseload to 6,59,007 till date.

COVID-19 deaths in the state surged to 3,880 after 2 patients succumbed to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours translating a case fatality rate of 0.58 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.3 per cent, according to the bulletin issued by the Office of the Director, Public Health and Family Welfare here Today.

A total of 389 people recovered from coronavirus statewide in the last 24 hours taking the overall recoveries thus far to 6,49,391 constituting a recovery rate of 98.54 per cent while the national recovery rate was 97.42 per cent.

The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 5,736, the bulletin said.

As many as 71,829 samples were tested in the state during the last 24 hours to detect the contagious virus out of which the results of 1,420 swab samples are awaited.

Cumulatively, 2,48,48,181 COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the bulletin said.
Among the districts, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) remained the main contributor of the infection by registering a maximum of 82 new coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours followed by Karimnagar (23), Warangal Urban (22), Medchal Malkajgiri (19), Khammam & Rangareddy (16), Nalgonda (15), Jagtial (14) and Peddapalli (13).

The day’s remaining coronavirus cases have been reported by other districts, the bulletin added.(UNI)
