Maha: Megholi small irrigation weir leaked; woman & domestic animals washed away
Kolhapur, Sep 2 : Megholi small irrigation weir in Bhudargad tehsil of this district burst due to leakage in footing base early Today morning, in which a woman and around five domestic animals were washed away.
According to irrigation department, Megholi small irrigation weir burst following increased water leakage from nearby gate of ‘bandhara’ (weir).
Woman was identified Jijabai Dhanaji Mohite(55) and about five domestic animals were also swept away in speedy stream.
The water stream was so speedy that all crops at both sides were also washed away while five villages including Megholi, Navle, Vengrul, Shelli were to be endangered. A small bridge on small stream, during Vengrul and Mamadapur, was also washed away.
Sub-engineer in irrigation department Sambhajiraje Bhovle and branch engineer Sanitarians Shirke rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.(UNI)
