K’taka may get its new ministry in the next two days as Bommai flies to Delhi
Bengaluru, Aug 1: In all likelihood, Karnataka will get its new ministry in the next two days with Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai getting the summons from the BJP’s central leadership on the issue.
Speaking to reporters hours before boarding the plane, Bommai said he will be meeting with BJP national President JP Nadda in Delhi tomorrow to discuss the formation of the new ministry.
“I am going to Delhi by plane today at 1740 hours. Tomorrow I will meet our national party president JP Nadda. Most probably, there will be a meeting,” he said.
Since morning hours Bommai was waiting for the message from the central leadership in this regard.
For the past few days, hordes of former ministers and legislators were visiting the chief minister and former chief minister BS Yediyurappa’s house.
Among the visitors were former ministers Murugesh Nirani and Umesh Katti, and legislators V Somanna and BC Patil, among others.
In the wake of this development, the political pundits are speculating who will make it into the ministry and who will not. They are speculating whether the people of the state would see an imprint of the recent cabinet expansion carried out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and National Party President JP Nadda, at the Centre.
Some senior leaders belonging to the Lal Krishna Advani era were not retained as cabinet ministers by the BJP central leadership.
The political analysts also are curiously waiting to know whether legislators for Yediyurappa’s era would make it to the ministry.
Already former chief minister Jagadish Shettar, who belongs to Yediyurappa’s era, has opted out of the ministerial race, citing seniority reasons.
He had argued that he had previously accepted the ministerial post in the government led by his senior Yediyurappa, but would not do so in the yet-to-be-formed ministry, because of his seniority to the incumbent chief minister. Both Shettar and Bommai hail from the same Hubballi-Dharwad region.
However, former deputy chief minister KS Eshwarappa, who is among those who built the party in the state with Yediyurappa, has expressed his desire to join the ministry either as the deputy chief minister or as a minister. (UNI)
