CPI (M) advises AP CM to negotiate with Telangana CM to resolve river water dispute
Vijayawada, Jul 12: CPI (M) State Executive Committee here on Monday advised Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to negotiate with his Telangana counterpart to resolve the dispute on sharing of the Krishna river water.
The CPI (M) state executive committee meeting was held here in which party politburo member B V Raghavulu participated.
The CPI (M) state executive committee passed a resolution expressing concern over the precipitating dispute on the sharing of river Krishna water.
The conflict between the two Telugu states on the Krishna river water sharing would adversely affect the backward Rayalaseema region and also Prakasam and Nellore districts, the CPI (M) state committee said.
“Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy must initiate efforts to discuss the matter with his Telangana counterpart K Chandrashekar Rao.
The deepening crisis between the two states will lead to delay in the completion of projects across the river Krishna”, the CPI-M state executive committee opined.
The Central government has not disbursed the compensation to the evacuees of Polavaram and Vamsadhara project backwaters.
The state government should exert pressure on the Centre for disbursement of compensation to the evacuees, it demanded.
The CPI (M) state executive committee appealed to all the political parties to exercise restraint on the issue and not instigate regional hatred among people.
The CPI (M) state executive committee condemned the BJP’s attitude of using the water disputes between the two Telugu states for political mileage.
The utilization of Krishna river water is vital for agriculture and backward areas development in the state, It added. (UNI)
