Fresh COVID-19 cases fall, fatalities rises in UT in past 24 hours

Puducherry, Jul 1 : The new Coronavirus cases fell and the deaths increased as compared to yesterday in the Union Territory with 216 fresh COVID-19 cases and two deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, ending 10 AM Today.

On Wednesday, 264 new Coronavirus cases and one death had been reported.

With this, the infection tally went up to 1,17,465 and death toll to 1,751.

According to the Covid-19 status released by the health department here, of the 8,349 swab sample tests conducted on June 30, 216 persons tested positive for the virus.

As many as 175 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, 24 in Karaikal region, one in Yanam region and 16 in Mahe region.

About 227 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours. Of them, 185 were from Puducherry region, 22 from Karaikal region, seven from Yanam region and 13 from Mahe region.

Presently, 260 patients are being treated in Puducherry region, 36 in Karaikal region, 26 in Yanam region and 28 in Mahe region. Another, 1,991 persons diagnosed positive were taking treatment in home isolation in all the four regions of the Union Territory.

So far, 1,17,465 persons were infected by the Corona virus and of which 1,13,373 patients were treated and discharged, 1,751 people died and 2,341 patients were undergoing treatment in hospitals and home isolation.

A 53-year-old man and 48-year-old woman died due to Covid related issues.

While, the man died in Puducherry region, the woman died in Karaikal region.

The test positivity rate in the UT stood at 2.59 per cent, case fatality rate is 1.49 per cent and recovery rate is 96.52 per cent.

As many as 5,01,303 persons, including healthcare workers, frontline workers and general public were so far given COVID vaccine in the UT.(UNI)
