CRPF nabs two Maoists after exchange of fire in Jharkhand

New Delhi, Jun 23 :The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Today nabbed two Maoists after an exchange of fire in Pingu village in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand.

According to officials, acting on the credible intelligence input on movement of Peoples’ Liberation Front of India (PLFI) Commander Hari Singh Sandipurti, alias Modi, alias Akash, along with his dasta (gang) members in the area of villages Pingu and Burudih, the CRPF personnel along with state police force launched a ‘Search and Destroy Operation’ on the night of June 22.

At about 0300 hrs today, while the troops were surreptitiously approaching the target house, they noticed a suspicious movement and fired four Para bombs to illuminate the area.

“Finding themselves exposed, PLFI cadre opened fire upon troops which was promptly and effectively retaliated and after the firing stopped from both sides, the joint operation team recovered a 12 Bore (Double barrel Rifle), three 12 bore live rounds and four .315 live rounds and other miscellaneous items in the post encounter search” the CRPF said, adding that two suspects of the Maoist cadre were apprehended.(UNI)
