Kerala reports 7,719 new COVID cases, 16,743 recoveries: CM
Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 14 : Covid-19 was detected in 7,719 persons in Kerala Today while 16,743 patients have recovered from the disease, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.
Addressing a press conference here this evening, the CM said 68,573 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 11.26 %. Till now, a total of 2,12,89,498 samples have been sent for testing, he added.
Meanwhile, 161 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid taking the death toll in the state to 11,342.
Today, no place was identified as new hotspot while any place was excluded from the list, taking the total to 881 hotspots in the State.
In the last 24 hours, Covid was not detected in any person who recently came to Kerala from the UK taking the total to 128, and their samples have been sent to NIV, Pune for further testing. So far, 11 people who came from the UK were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.(UNI)
