COVID: Pondy registers 429 new cases, 11 deaths in last 24 hrs

Puducherry, Jun 11 : As many as 429 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours as, taking the tally of virus infections to 1,11,685, a health bulletin said Today.

However, the death toll increased to 11 in the last 24 hours.

According to the Covid 19 status for Friday released by the health department, of the 9,159 swab tests taken yesterday, 429 tested positive for the virus. 322 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, 83 in Karaikal, five in Yanam region and 19 in Mahe region. As many as 967 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours.738 of them were from Puducherry region,176 from Karaikal region, 31 from Yanam region and 22 from Mahe region.

Presently, 737 persons are being treated in Puducherry region, 96 in Karaikal region, 44 in Yanam region and 65 in Mahe region. Another 5,214 positive cases are under home isolation in all the four regions of the UT.

So far, 1,11,684 persons were infected by the virus of which 1,03,860 were treated and discharged and 1,668 died leaving 6,156 active cases here.

11 persons (eight in Puducherry region and three in Karaikal region) died in the last 24 hours due to COVID-19.

The test positivity rate in the UT stood at 4.68 per cent, case fatality rate stood at 1.49 per cent and recovery rate now stands at 92.99 per cent.

As many as 3,09,134 persons including health care workers, front line workers and general public are so far inoculated in the UT.(UNI)
