Monsoon in Kerala by May 31
Pune, May 29: Conditions are likely to become favourable for onset of Southwest Monsoon over Kerala around 31st May 2021.
Day temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at a few places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Assam and Meghalaya; at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh and west Rajasthan; at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a few places over Himachal Pradesh and Punjab; at isolated places over Kerala and Mahe. They were markedly below normal (-5.1°C or less) at most places over east Uttar Pradesh and Bihar; at many places over Jharkhand; at a few places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Chhattisgarh; appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at a few places over west Uttar Pradesh, north interior Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands; at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal, Telangana and west Madhya Pradesh; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at most places over Uttarakhand; at many places over south interior Karnataka and Marathwada; at a few places over Gujarat Region, Madhya Maharashtra and Rayalaseema; at isolated places over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, east Rajasthan and near normal over rest parts of the country. The highest maximum temperature of 47.3°C was reported at Ganganagar (west Rajasthan) over the country.
Thunderstorm observed (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0830 hrs IST today) at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada, north interior Karnataka, Bihar and Jharkhand.
Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, coastal Karnataka and Lakshadweep and at many places in east Uttar Pradesh, Kerala and Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Jharkhand, Konkan and Goa and north interior Karnataka and at isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, west Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and south interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather has prevailed in Haryana, Punjab, Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat state and Rayalseema.(UNI)
