LoP of Mah council demands immediate relief for cyclone-hit Konkan region
Aurangabad, May 28 : Leader of Opposition of Maharashtra Legislative Council Pravin Darekar Today alleged that people of cyclone-hit Konkan region has been neglected by the present dispensation in the state and demanded immediate disbursement of relief for the affected.
“People of cyclone-hit Konkan don’t want just reassurance but justice. Thackeray’s government has misled the people of Konkan with empty promises. They should get their due,” the BJP leader wrote on his official Twitter account in Marathi.
Mr Darekar also posted a video clip on his Twitter handle in which he among others, party leaders can be seen protesting against the MVA state government over pending relief.Meanwhile, a decision was taken at a cabinet meeting on Thursday to speed up relief to the victims of the cyclone.
Cyclone Tauktae hit the west coast of the country between May 12 and 19, causing destruction in the western States Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat along with two Union Territories — Lakshadweep and Daman & Diu due to heavy rainfall and gale winds.(UNI)
