Noted eminent artist Gopi succumbs to Covid, CM condoles

Hyderabad, May 22:Noted eminent artist, popular for his illustrations by name Gopi (Loosagani Gopal Goud) succumbed to Covid while undergoing treatment at the state-run Gandhi hospital here on Friday.
He was 69 and he is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
A artist with dynamic imagination and expression in his art, Gopi, born at Mahabubnagar (Telangana) in an Agricultural family in 1952.
Gaduated in 1975 from JNTU college of fine arts Hyderabad, with over 4 decades of art experience, Gopi in his early days of art career worked extensively in drawing illustrations for the print media of various regional magazines, journals and advertising agencies.
He also worked as an freelance artist to the Government of Andhra Pradesh (under united Andhra Pradesh) in the Information and Public Relations Department for a period of 10 years when N T Rama Rao was the Chief Minister.
Gopi has drawn thousands of illustrations and designed posters for the government by taking its ideologies & various policies into the public through his artwork.
He is the person behind who has designed logos of popular news dailies to his credit like Udayam, Vartha, Andhra Bhoomi, and as well as designed telugu Cinema titles and publicity posters of various movies from Tollywood like noted film director B.Narsing rao’s Telengana Rebellion ‘MAA bhoomi’ (1979), ‘Rangula Kala’ (1983), ‘Dongala Dopidi’ (1978), Director Jandhyala’s hh..gup chup (1992) etc are to name a few.
A master specialized in creating artwork with pure imagination and high figurative work in an expressive way unlike keeping an art model or a photograph as reference, his art is always in action, in a movement which is with full of life, in his art works the human figures are drawn in countless variety of animated postures/angles without one form repeating again…which is very rare and unusual for anyone to even imagine a figure that way, a unique style of his own, the artistic force in stroke of his line is unparalalled, now presently working on contemporary figurative works in various mediums.
In a message on Saturday, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao mourned the death of well-known artist and illustrator Gopi.
The Chief Minister said Gopi, who hailed from Palamuru, had shown his excellence as an artist, cartoonist and illustrator for the past four decades.
In his death, the Telangana had lost a great artist, Mr Rao said and conveyed his condolences to members of the bereaved family.(UNI)
