‘No respite from violence for Muslims even in raging pandemic ‘

Hyderabad, May 22 : All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President and Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi Today said that there is no respite from violence for Muslims even in a raging pandemic.

The ongoing complete lockdown have destroyed the poor completely, mainly of self-employed and people with informal sector jobs (such as Faisal) are Muslim, SC and ST, Mr Owaisi said on a micro-boggling site Twitter.

The Telangana government had earlier extended the lockdown to contain the spread of COVID-19 till May 30.

Lockdowns have snatched their livelihoods and brought violence and destruction on Muslims, he said that 50 per cent of urban Muslims are self-employed.

About 73 per cent don’t have salaried jobs and they cannot earn simply by taking part in video conferences like @PMOIndia, the AIMIM Chief said.

Lockdown is giving them only 3 choices—die because of Corona, die because of poverty or die due to police atrocities, he said.

Police in India are extremely prejudiced against Muslims, he further tweeted and said that 56 percent of Uttar Pradesh (UP) Cops hate Muslims and believe they are more criminal than other communities.

About 54 per cent of UP cops prefer police punishment over legal trials, he said.

Government Order (Go) on lockdown in Telangana clearly states that food delivery is permitted but the delivery personnel are being detained, Mr Asaduddin pointed out.

They (delivery personnel) must be released along with their vehicles immediately as they are poor youths, he demanded.

If the government has decided to not allow food delivery, then please amend the GO and till such an amendment is made, food delivery personnel should not be stopped, he urged Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Twitter.(UNI)
