Arrested ruling YSRCP rebel MP Raghu Rama Raju shifted to prison
Vijayawada, May 16 : The arrested ruling YSRCP rebel MP K Ragh Rama Krishna Raju was shifted to the district prison in Guntur after conducting a medical examination at the Government General Hospital in Guntur.
The YSRCP rebel MP of Naraspuram constituency was arrested by the CID police in Hyderabad on May 14 on the charges of making obnoxious comments against the government and creating social enmity.
Mr.Raju was produced before the sixth additional junior civil judge on the night of May 15 in Guntur. The court sent him to judicial remand till May 28. The MP complained to the judge and also to the high court that he was beaten up when he was in police custody. He showed his swollen legs which became reddish to the judge and sent images to the high court. The high court has taken serious note of his complaint of police torture while in the custody.
The high court set up a three-member medical board led by Guntur Government General Hospital Superintendent Dr.Prabhavathi to conduct a medical examination on the complaint of the MP. The medical board conducted needed medical tests for the MP.
The medical board is expected to submit its report to the high court today. Amid high security, the MP was shifted to the Guntur district prison from the government general hospital.
Meanwhile, the way in which the police handled the case drew flak from all opposition parties. The advocates of the MP told the media that they had approached the Supreme Court for bail.(UNI)
