Harshavardhan expresses satisfaction over decreasing intensity of Covid in Telangana
Hyderabad, May 12 : Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Harshavardhan has expressed satisfaction over the decrease in the intensity of the Corona in Telangana State.
The Union Minister has assured the state that supply of Oxygen, medicines and injections like the Remdesivir, Vaccines, testing kits, ventilators and other Corona related drugs and essentials would be done immediately and the state’s quota would also be increased in this regard.
Dr Harshavardhan held a videoconference with the state governments on Wednesday, an official release here said.
In this context, on the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, finance Minister T Harish Rao participated in the videoconference.
In the back drop of the Union Minister eliciting information from various states on the measures taken to curtail the spread of the Corona virus, Harish Rao explained about the curtailment measures taken by the state government.
Mr Harish Rao urged the Union Minister to enhance quota of the Telangana State and supply the required quantities of the Oxygen, medicines, Vaccines and other essential materials immediately.
Speaking at the videoconference, Mr Harish Rao said that the state government had enhanced the basic infrastructure considerably by the time second wave arrived.
During the first wave of Corona spread, there were only 18,232 beds, which were increased to 53,775, , three fold during the second wave. The Chief Minister with his foresight had increased the 9213 Oxygen beds to 20738, ICU beds from 3264 to 11274. There is a three-fold increase of these beds.
The Finance Minister said under the instructions from the Chief Minister, Medical and Health Department in the state is conducting door-to-door fever survey to contain the Corona spread. 27039 Teams consisting of the ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, ANM staff are visiting each and every household and conducting the fever tests.
Mr Harish Rao informed the union health Minister that Health Kits comprising the essential medicines to treat Corona are supplied to those suspected patients. He said this survey programme is helping to identify those who have no idea that they are tested positive for the Corona and preventing the spread of the virus and helping their subsequent hospitalisation. It is also helping to prevent the deaths due to the virus, Harish Rao said.
He said so far Fever tests are done in 60 lakh households, suspected are kept in the isolation and are given the health kits. He said the lockdown has begun in the state from today.(UNI)
