Hyderabad, May 9 : Telangana saw 4976 fresh coronavirus on Sunday taking the total tally of cases to 4,97,361 so far, even as the surge in COVID-19 cases continued in the state.

After thirty-five patients died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours the total toll due to COVID-19 stands at 2739 till date translating a case fatality rate of 0,55 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.1 per cent, according to a State Health Department bulletin here said today..

As many as 7646 people have recovered from coronavirus statewide in the past 24 hours pushing the total number of recoveries thus far to 4,28,865 constituting a recovery rate of 86.22 per cent while the national recovery rate was 82.1 per cent.

Currently, the number of active cases in the state stands at 65,757, the bulletin said.

In all, 55,358 samples were tested between on Sunday in the state to detect the contagious virus out of which the results of 1,700 swab samples are awaited.

Cumulatively, more than 1.36 crore COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.(UNI)
