Three arrested in Navi Mumbai for issuing bogus Covid-19 negative test reports

Thane, May 9 :With the arrest of three people from Kharghar, the Navi Mumbai police on Saturday claimed to have busted a major racket in the issue of fake Covid negative test report without taking the swab samples.
Based on a complaint, the police sent a decoy, later raided the premises at Kharghar and caught the trio on Friday.
They were charging Rs 2,500 for each of the certificate, police said.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sajid Upadyaya (27), Aniket Dudhawade (21) and Rahul Pandey (26).

They issued fake certificates of renowned labs without taking the swabs and being tested at the labs.
They provided these certificates to those who were providing essential services, home delivery boys, hotel home delivery personnel who needed the same for e-pass.
An offence under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and other acts and rules have been registered against the arrested accused with the Kharghar police station, sources added.(UNI)
