Telangana records 7,430 fresh COVID-19 cases, 56 fatalities until Saturday night

Hyderabad, May 2 :There was no let-up in surge of COVID-19 cases in Telangana as the state recorded 7,430 new Coronavirus cases until 2000 hours on Saturday to take the cumulative case count to 4,50,790 so far.

With the death of 56 patients in the last 24 hours, the toll in the state due to the pandemic now stands at 2,368 translating a case fatality rate of 0.52 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.1 per cent, according to a State Health Department bulletin here on Sunday.

As many as 5,567 people have recuperated from Coronavirus statewide to take the total number of recoveries thus far to 3,67,727 constituting a recovery rate of 81.57 per cent while the National recovery rate was 81.7 per cent.

Currently, the number of active cases in the state stands at 80,695, the bulletin said.

A total of 76,330 swab samples were tested in the state between Friday and Saturday to detect the contagious virus and out of which the reports of 4,652 swab samples are awaited.

Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, more than 1.30 crore COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far.

The worst affected Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation continued to be the chief contributor of the infection by reporting the highest 1546 Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours followed by Medchal Malakjigiri district 533, Rangareddy district 475, Nalgonda district 368, Sangareddy district 349, Warangal Urban district 321, Nizamabad district 301, Maaboobnagar district 279, Karimnagar district 272, Khammam district 258, Siddipet district 242, Jagityal district 226, Nagarkurnool district 205, Vikarabad district 203, Mancherial district 178, Yadadri Bhonigir district 148, Kamareddy district 147, Peddapalli district 125, Warangal Rural and Mahabubabad districts 115 each, Medak district 114, Suryapet district 106 and Bhadradri Kothagudem district 105.

The remaining fresh COVID-19 cases have been registered by other districts, the bulletin added.(UNI)
