80.56 lakh tonnes of wheat procured in Haryana so far
Chandigarh, May 3 : A total of 83.53 lakh tonnes of wheat has arrived in 396 mandis/procurement centers of the Haryana State from April 1 to May 3, out of which a total of 80.56 lakh tonnes of wheat has been procured.
Apart from this, till May 3, about Rs 10,452 crore have been paid directly in the farmers’ bank accounts, a government spokesperson said here today.
He said due to exponential surge in Covid-19 the government has decided to stop the procurement of wheat in all the mandis/procurement centres of the state till May 9.
He informed that during Lockdown, there will be no procurement of wheat in the mandis/procurement centres, neither any gate pass will be issued for the same. He said that, however, the lifting of wheat procured in the mandis would be ensured on daily basis.
He urged all the farmers to stay at home during this pandemic and not to leave home until necessary.(UNI)
