Mumbai, May 3:Maharashtra on Wednesday reported 48,621 new COVID-19 cases and 567 deaths in the last 24 hours.
The fresh surge in cases has taken the infections tally to 47,71,022 while the death toll soared to 70,851.
At the same time as many as 59,500 peoples recovered from the deadly virus, taking the number of recoveries to 40,41,158 in the state.
The recovery rate which was rising in the previous month has now fallen to 84.7 per cent, owing to the sudden spurt in cases.
On the testing front, as many as 2,78,64,426 people have been tested so far for the virus with the fatality rate standing at 1.49 per cent.
The state still has an active caseload of 6,56,870 patients, undergoing treatment at different Covid Care Centres and hospitals.(UNI)
