K’taka CM reconstitutes Task Force Committee on COVID-19

Bengaluru, May 04 :Under attack from the Opposition parties, over the shocking deaths of 28 persons, for lack of the supply of the oxygen, in a state-run District Hospital at Chamarajanagar district, the Chief minister B S Yediyurappa have reconstituted the State Task Force committee on Covid-19, by appointing the Deputy Chief minister Dr Ashwath Narayana as the new chairman, here today.

The committee, earlier headed by the Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar, came under severe attack from the Opposition Congress and the JD(S) leaders over the incident of the death of 28 Patients in the District Hospital in Chamarajanagar.

Addressing the media after chairing a Cabinet meeting, Chief minister B S Yediyurappa has informed that the state cabinet which took stock of the alarming COVID-19 situation in the state and take several crucial decisions to contain the spread of the pandemic disease in the state.

He said, “We have reviewed the COVID-19 situation in the state, the availability of drugs including remediver, the supply of Oxygen and other related facilities and decided to ramp up the efforts to contain the spread of the pandemic disease.”

He said that an investigation would be conducted on the reports of the sale of life-saving drug, remedesiver in black market and warned to take stern actions against those who were involved in the grey-market trade.

Referring to the demand of the Opposition Leader, Siddaramaiah, to resign, following the ill-fated incident in Chamarajanagar district hospital, where 28 people died due to non-availability of Oxygen, he said that “BY resignation is not the solution”.

“Let Siddaramaiah, advise the state government on containing the spread of the deadly virus”, he said.

Chief minister had also announced that Journalists will be treated as ‘Covid warriors’ and extend all covid-19 caring facilities including their family members.

Replying to questions, he said that the present ‘Janata Curfew’ imposed in the state, which would be in force till May 12 and a decision would be taken on to extend it further.(UNI)
