Congress accuses govt, police of harassing its volunteers

Panaji, Apr 30: The Congress in Goa on Friday alleged that the state police and the government were harassing its volunteers who were providing life-saving xygen to Covid -19 patients.
Reacting after police summoned Youth Congress office-bearers for questioning, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President GirishChodankarsaid,”Stooping so low is cheap and inhuman politics. Like Congress, many NGOs are also providing life support to hundreds of struggling patients. It’s our bounden duty when Government of the day fails.”
MrChodankar claimed that GPCC General Secretary Jana Bhandari, Goa Pradesh Youth Congress (GPYC) President VaradMardolkar, St Andrem Youth Block president SaishAroskar, Youth Congress State Secretary Glan Cabral and others were being harassed by the police.
“Govt of Goa is not helping needy, not creating required infrastructure, nor have action plan to save lives of people, nor are they allowing others to help needy patients. If providing oxygen cylinder to needy patients is a crime then we will commit such crime repeatedly and no one can stop us,” he said.
“It is high time that DrPramodSawant who has miserably failed as Chief Minister to govern and save lives should join the GMC Doctors team as Goa is hard press for doctors. In any way Super CM is running the Government. We think at least he can serve patients in the capacity of a doctor,” MrChodankar said.(UNI)
