Contest KDMPA’s election due on May 2: Satejl Patil
Kolhapur, April 27 : After the Supreme Court rejected a petition seeking cancellation of general election of the Kolhapur District Milk Producers’ Association (KDMPA), also popularly known as Gokul dairy, Maharashtra Minister of State for Home and one of the leaders of opposition front Satejl Patil on Tuesday appealed to the ruling faction to contest the election due on May two.
Addressing a news conference here this evening after the court’s order, he said that the voting on May two would be held by following all norms and regulations of the court at total 70 polling centres in 12 tehsil of the district.
While more than 40 voters who have tested positive and are currently taking medical treatment, would cast their votes by taking all precautions with PPE kits and without any danger to other voters, he said.
As per the court’s direction, at every polling centre only 50 voters would cast their votes from 0800 hours to 1700 hrs, instead of 100 voters allowed earlier, he said and informed hence the number of polling centers has been increased to 70 from 35 earlier.
Mr Patil assured that the opposition front Rajashree Shahu Shetkari Aghadi, led by state Rural Development Minister Hasan Mushrif, Minister of State for Health Rajendra Patil-Yadravkar and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Mandlik, supported by Vinay Kore-led Jansurajya Party, was committed to give maximum rates to milk-producing farmers and asked the ruling front’s leaders including Congress MLA P N Patil and former MLC and industralist Mahadevrao Mahadik, to accept today’s court ruling and contest the upcoming election.(UNI)
