Former SSB Chief Arun Chaudhary succumbs to COVID-19
New Delhi, April 25 : Sixty six-year-old 1977-batch Bihar cadre retired IPS officer and former Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Director General Arun Chaudhary has succumbed to COVID-19 infection, officials in the force confirmedtoday.
Late Chaudhary had served for nearly two decades in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) where he headed the Jammu and Kashmir desk, the officials said, adding that early in his career he served in various positions in his cadre state and also had a stint with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) as Head of the airport security unit.
In December 2012, he was appointed Director General of the SSB, the force, which guards Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders, and retired from service on April 30, 2014.
The SSB has condoled his death on social media, saying it was “saddened by the untimely demise of Chaudhary”. It said, “His contribution to the nation and SSB cannot be forgotten. SSB stands by his family in this period of grief and sorrow and prays to the almighty that the departed soul may rest in peace.”(UNI)
