Telangana govt objects over ‘lower’ Remdesivir allotment

Hyderabad, April 22 :  Telangana Health Minister Eatala Rajender on Thursday expressed displeasure over the ‘lower’ allocation of Remdesivir to the state by the centre despite many manufacturers in the state producing anti-viral drug.
The centre has allotted 21,500 remdesivir injections to Telangana for a period of April 21 to 30, even the state has placed orders to procure 4 lakh injections, Eatala to reporters here.
On Wednesday, the centre decided to centralise the distribution of Remdesivir and it has allotted very lesser injections to the state against our requirement, he said.
“ I do not know on what basis that the centre is allotting injections to the state”,the Minister pointed out.
Telangana Minister for Industries K.T.Rama Rao (KTR) earlier had informed that four lakh Remdesivir injections will be made available in all the government hospitals in the state within the coming one week.
In wake of the covid spike in the State, the hospitals are seeing a shortage of Remdesivir injections.
The patients suffering from breathing problems are being given oxygen and also Remdesivir injections which are yielding good results.
As per directions of Chief Minister K.Chandrashekhar Rao, KTR , who held a meeting with the pharma companies producing Remdesivir injections, asked them to increase their production and ensure four lakh Remdesivir injections are supplied to the government hospitals within the next one week.(UNI)
