Telangana logs 5,567 new COVID-19 cases, 23 fatalities until Wednesday night
Hyderabad, April 22: As the daily new COVID-19 cases continue to see a surge in Telangana, the cumulative infection cases stand at 3,73,468 till date with 5,567 fresh Coronavirus cases reported in the state until 2000 hours on Wednesday.
After a record 23 patients died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the overall toll mounted thus far to 1,899 translating a case fatality rate of 0.50 percent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.2 percent, according to a state health department bulletin here on Thursday.
Interestingly, more than a year after the pandemic began, the cases and deaths are continuing in the state at an alarming rate.
The total number of people who have recuperated from Coronavirus statewide so far surged to 3,21,788 after 2,251 people recovered from the deadly virus constituting a recovery rate of 86.16 percent while the National recovery rate was 84.5 percent.
The active cases in the state currently stand at 49,781, the bulletin said.
Between Tuesday and Wednesday, about 1,02,335 swab samples were tested in the state to detect the contagious virus and out of which the reports of 4,701 swab samples are awaited.
Cumulatively, about 1,21,75,425 COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Among the districts, the worst-affected Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, being the chief contributor of the infection, reported the highest 989 Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours followed by Rangareddy district 437, Medchal Malkajigiri district 421, Nizamabad district 367, Mahaboobnagar district 258, Kamareddy district 206, Jagityal district 200, Mancherial district 185, Siddipet district 183, Sangareddy district 176, Nalgonda district 161, Karimnagar district 157, Nagarkurnool district 150, Warangal Urban district 139, Khammam district 134, Vikarabad district 122, Rajanna Sircilla district 117, Medak district 111, Suryapet district 110, Nirmal district 10 and Adilabad district 107.
The remaining fresh COVID-19 cases have been registered by other districts, the bulletin added. (UNI)
