Marathwada region registers 7,565 Covid cases, 157 fatalities
Aurangabad, April 21 :Covid situation continues to remain grim in eight districts of Marathwada region of Maharashtra as the region recorded highest 157 Covid fatalities and fresh 7565 coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, according to the health authorities.
Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI show that out of the eight districts of the region, Aurangabad was the worst-affected, which recorded the highest number with 1,337 cases and 37 deaths, followed by, Latur with 1477 new cases and 26 deaths, Nanded had 1157 cases and 25 deaths, Osmanabad registered 645 new cases and 21 deaths, Parbhani had 1212 cases and 18 deaths, Beed had 1024 cases and 16 deaths, Jalna had 510 cases 10 deaths and Hingoli had 185 cases and 4 deaths.
Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 62,097 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, mounting the total number of infections to 39,00359.
The state also registered 519 more deaths, taking the death toll to 61,343.
Meanwhile, a record 54,224 patients were recovered in the state, taking the total number of recoveries to 32,13,464.
The state’s recovery rate currently stands at 81.14 per cent and the fatality rate is 1.55 per cent.
At present, there are 6,83,856 active patients across the state undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals, they added.
In view of the rising number of cases, the state government has tighten restrictions during curfew period by reducing timing to four hours of essential services in the state till May 1 under the initiative of ‘break the chain’, exempting emergency services.(UNI)
