Thane, April 19: A clerk at the Local Body Tax department of the Thane Municipal Corporation has been arrested by the Thane unit of Anti-Corruption Bureau while allegedly accepting a bribe of ?? from a complainant (businessman).
The alleged accused Sharad Ugade had demanded Rs 50,000 from the complainant for reducing the LBT for the period 2013 and 2016, an official ACB release stated on Monday.
After due negotiations, the accused agreed to accept Rs 45,000.
However, aggrieved complainant lodged a complaint with the city unit of ACB, whose team laid a trap at the LBT office of the TMC at Majiwada recently and arrested the clerk with the bribe money.
An offence under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered with the Vartak Nagar police station against the accused, the release added.(UNI)
