MNS leader murder: arrested sharp-shooter remanded into magisterial custody
Thane, April 15:Sharp-shooter Irfan Sonu, arrested from Lucknow of Uttar Pradesh on April 3 for allegedly gunning down the MNS leader in Thane city, was remanded into magisterial custody by a court here on Thursday.
On the expiry of his police custody today, Irfan was produced before First Class Judicial Magistrate Ms. S V Inamdar who remanded him into magisterial custody for 14 days, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, the city Crime Branch unit-I went to Lucknow and arrested Irfan with the help of the special task force.
Irfan was on the run after he gunned down MNS leader Jameel Shaikh in the Rabodi area of the city on November 23, 2020.
Irfan informed the Lucknow STF that he had carried out the killing with his accomplice Shaheed Osama, on instructions of the local NCP corporator Najeeb Mulla. He was paid Rs 2 lakh for the same. (UNI)
