nCoV: 413 new cases, one death in UT

Puducherry, April 15:  As many as 413 more persons were tested positive for Coronavirus and one died in the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM on Thursday, taking the tally of infection cases to 45,862 and the death toll to 699 in the Union Territory.
The lone death was reported in the Mahe region of UT.
According to the COVID-19 status released by the health department here, of the 2,811 swab sample tests conducted on Wednesday, 413 persons tested positive for the virus.
About 340 new cases were reported in the Puducherry region, 30 each in Karaikal and Mahe regions and 13 in the Yanam region.
In the last 24 hours, 176 persons were discharged and 146 of them were from the Puducherry region,17 from the Karaikal region, six from the Yanam region, and seven from the Mahe region.
Presently, 476 patients are being tested in the Puducherry region, 57 each in Karaikal and Yanam regions and 16 in the Mahe region. Another, 2,662 people diagnosed positive for COVID were taking treatment under home isolation in all four regions of the UT.
So far, 45,862 persons were infected by the virus, and of which 41,895 patients were treated and discharged, 699 people died and 3,268 patients were undergoing treatment in hospitals and home isolation.
The case fatality rate in the UT is 1.52 percent and the recovery rate is 91.35 percent.
As many as 1,30,564 persons were given COVID vaccine in the UT so far. This includes 29,491 healthcare workers, 16,923 frontline workers and 84,150 are general public. (UNI)
