Telangana logs 2,157 fresh COVID-19 cases, eight fatalities until Tuesday night
Hyderabad, April 14 :As the surge in daily COVID-19 cases continues, Telangana registered 2,157 fresh Coronavirus infections until 2000 hours on Tuesday to take the case count to 3,34,738 till date.
Daily tally of positive cases dropped to below 3,000 owing to lesser tests on Ugadi day being a holiday.
The cumulative toll mounted to 1,780 after eight patients died of COVID-19 translating a case fatality rate of 0.53 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.2 per cent, according to a state health department bulletin here on Wednesday.
The number of people who have recuperated from the deadly virus so far has surged to 3,07,499 after 821 people have recovered from COVID-19 statewide as of Tuesday constituting a recovery rate of 91.86 per cent while the National recovery rate was 88.9 per cent.
The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 25,459 including 16,892 individuals in home or institutional isolation, the bulletin said.
Between Monday and Tuesday, 72,364 swab samples were tested in the state to detect the contagious virus and out of which the reports of 4,959 swab samples are awaited.
Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, more than 1.12 crore COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) continued to be the chief contributor of the infection by reporting 361 fresh Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours followed by Medchal Malkajigiri district (245), Rangareddy district (206) Nizamabad district (187), Sangareddy district (135) and Jagityal district (107).
Th remaining COVID-19 cases have been registered by other districts, the bulletin added.(UNI)
