COVID : 476 new cases, two deaths in UT
Puducherry, April 14 : The number of active Coronavirus cases crossed 3000 in the Union Territory with 476 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 and two deaths reported in the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM, on Wednesday.
One death each was reported in Puducherry and Karaikal regions.
According to the COVID-19 status released by the health department here, of the 4,376 swab sample tests conducted on Tuesday, 476 persons tested positive for the virus.
As many as 333 new cases were reported in Puducherry region,104 in Karaikal region, 32 in Yanam region and seven in Mahe region.
About 242 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours and 159 of them were from Puducherry region, 66 from Karaikal region, two from Yanam region and 15 from Mahe region.
Presently, 485 patients are being treated in Puducherry region, 65 in Karaikal region, 51 in Yanam region and 15 in Mahe region. Another, 2,416 persons tested positive for COVID and taking treatment under home isolation in all the four regions of UT.
So far 45,449 persons were infected by the virus and of which 41,719 patients were treated and discharged, 698 people died and 3,032 persons were undergoing treatment in hospitals and home isolation.
The case fatality rate in the UT is 1.54 per cent and the recovery rate is 91.79 per cent.
As many as 1,21,936 persons were given COVID vaccine in the UT so far. This include 29,427 healthcare workers, 16,852 frontline workers and 75,657 are general public.(UNI)
