LG brings Remdesivir injection to Pondy from Telangana
Puducherry, April 13 : As the Remdesivir injection being administered to the Covid patients in the Intensive care Units(ICU) exhausted here, Puducherry Lt. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan who is also the Governor of Telangana on Tuesday brought the injection to Puducherry from Telangana.
According to a Raj Nivas release, Puducherry Health Secretary T Arun and other officials collected the medicine from the LG at the Puducherry AirPort.
Later,talking to news persons at the airport, the LG said that all efforts are being taken by the administration to contain the spread of Covid here .In yesterday’s high level meeting it was informed that the stock of Remdesivir injection exhausted. It was regrettable, she said adding that however, with the cooperation of the Telangana Health Department Remdesivir required for 1000 patients was brought to Puducherry today. Stringent action will be initiated if any one tried to sell it in black market, she added.
She called up on the people to cooperate with the government by wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and sanitizing themselves .She also urged all the eligible to get vaccinated. About 11,000 were vaccinated till this evening, she said adding that for the benefit of the public, the vaccine festival would be extended for another four days.
The central government was urged to ensure that there will be no shortage for the vaccine in the union territory and on the basis of that the centre had provided one lakh vaccines.(UNI)
