Cong seeks ECI intervention to stop distribution of money, liquor in Nagarjuna Sagar bypoll

Hyderabad, April 13 :Telangana state Congress party on Tuesday sought intervention of the Election Commission of India (ECI) to stop the alleged distribution of money, liquor by the ruling TRS party in Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly Constituency by-poll slated on April 17.
In his letter addressed to Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President and Nalgonda MP, N Uttam Kumar Reddy said there is a chance of the spread of the pandemic as thousands of people from local and other places are being mobilized for the public meeting of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday.
Many non-locals are already camping in the constituency, he said that all non-locals should be asked to leave the constituency immediately.
The election authorities should seize the vehicles being used for the election campaign of TRS candidates which do not have permission and are not included in TRS candidate’s election expenditure register.
Central forces must be deployed at the check posts and vehicles should be checked for cash and liquor, Reddy said.
He also urged the EC to deploy central forces at all polling booths during the polling.
The borders of this constituency must be sealed to restrict outsiders from entering the constituency, Reddy demanded.(UNI)
