Telangana logs 3,187 new COVID-19 cases, seven fatalities until Saturday night
Hyderabad, April 11: Continuing the upward spiral in daily new COVID-19 cases, Telangana registered, breaching the 3,000-mark, 3,187 fresh Coronavirus cases until 2000 hours on Saturday to push the infection count to 3,27,278 till date.
The state recorded seven fresh fatalities due to COVID-19 taking the death toll so far to 1,759 translating a case fatality rate of 0.53 percent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.3 percent, according to a state health department bulletin here on Sunday.
In a span of 24 hours, 787 people recuperated from Coronavirus statewide to take the total number of recoveries thus far to 3,05,335 constituting a recovery rate of 93.29 percent while the National recovery rate was 90.4 percent.
Currently, the number of active cases in the state stands at 20,184 including 13,366 individuals in-home or institutional isolation, the bulletin said.
The sample testing in the state is also showing an upward trend with 1,15,311 swab samples being tested between Friday and Saturday to detect the contagious virus and out of which the reports of 3,753 swab samples are awaited.
Cumulatively, more than one crore and nine lakh COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The worst-hit Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) remained the chief contributor of the infection by registering a maximum of 551 new Coronavirus cases since the last 24 hours.
The other districts which reported three-digit infection cases are Medchal Malkajgiri (333), Ranagareddy (271), Nizamabad (251), Nirmal (154), Jagityal (134), Karimnagar, and Sangareddy 104 each.
The remaining Coronavirus cases have been recorded from other districts, the bulletin added. (UNI)
