Four killed in fire at Well Treat COVID Hospital in Nagpur

Nagpur, April 10: At least four persons were killed and several others injured in a massive fire that erupted at Well Treat hospital in the Wadi area on Amravati road in Maharashtra’s Nagpur district on Friday night, Chief fire officer Rajendra Uchke said.

According to the primary information the fire reportedly started from the AC unit of the ICU at the second floor. This private hospital was currently treating the COVID-19 patients. Around 27 patients were shifted to other hospitals due to safety precautions.

The fire was confined to the second floor only. It did not spread elsewhere.

The staff of the hospital tried to put out the fire with the help of a fire extinguisher but could not succeed, Uchke said.

Uchke further said several fire tenders were rushed to the hospital and later succeeded to douse the blaze.

Meanwhile, many other patients were safely evacuated by fire personnel along with police and staff of the hospital, the official added. (UNI)
