500 young people attend the Samba Youth Convention, an industry gathering.

JAMMU,NOV29:On Tuesday, the Area Administration of Samba hosted a Youth Convention called “Kaushal Sangam” (District Skill Development and Employment Cell), where professionals from business, trade, and industry mingled with 500 young people from the Samba district.

The Youth Convention was set up to act as a direct conduit between employers and job seekers, with the government serving as a mediator. 

Youth had the chance to hear the stories of successful businesspeople.

It offered a forum for learning about young people’s goals and educating them about the government’s programmes for self-employment and skill development.

Anuradha Gupta, the deputy commissioner for Samba, praised the efforts put forward by the Kaushal Sangam team in organising the Youth Convention and bringing together various players in the fields of education, employment, and skill development.

She urged the young people to be mindful of the shifting employment and skill landscape, to stay current on new advancements, and to strive for greatness in their chosen fields.

The Youth Convention was attended by several professionals from business and large-scale projects, including Charanjeet Singh Walia, Vice President of Alhuwalia Contracts (India) Ltd., and Surinder Singh Oberoi, Project Manager Dry Port. Additionally, NHAI officers and HR directors of construction firms that NHAI had contracted with shared their profiles with the youth participants.

In light of the establishment of new industries and megaprojects like Dry Port, AIIMS, NHAI, etc. being conducted in the District, the professionals from industry informed the audience about the Job requirements/Skill requirements in the near future.

The professionals from industries answered the youth’s questions in an open forum interactive session that was also organised.

In addition, the District Employment and Counseling Center Samba held a job fair at which 137 applicants for various positions were shortlisted by 12 reputable national companies, including Reliance JIO, RBSiGLOBAL, SBI Life, Geneka Pharmaceutical, Kokuyo-Camlin Ltd, UFLEX Ltd, Jamkash Trucking Pvt. Ltd., and Fair Deal Motors and Workshop Pvt. Ltd.

21 sanction letters, totaling Rs. 23 lakh in subsidies and Rs. 1.30 crore in loans, were also given by the Deputy Commissioner under various Govt. Sponsored Self Employment Schemes.

Additionally, 289 individuals registered for various skill development programmes.

A total of 500 young people attended the Youth Convention, together with Additional Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Dubey, PO ICDS Joginder Singh, CPO Sukhleen Kour, AD Employment, residents, and PRI members.(PHN)
