45 new Covid cases in UT
Puducherry, Oct 28 : As many as 45 fresh Coronavirus cases have been reported in the Union Territory since the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM Today, taking the infection tally to 1,27,891.
No fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours and the death toll remained at 1,857. On Wednesday, 40 fresh cases had been registered.
According to the Covid-19 status released by the health department here, of the 3,614 swab sample tests conducted yesterday, 45 persons tested positive for the virus.
Thirty four new cases were reported in Puducherry region, seven in Karaikal region and four in Mahe region.
In the last 24 hours, 35 persons were discharged and 24 of them were from Puducherry region, two from Karaikal region and nine from Mahe region.
Presently, 71 patients were being treated at hospitals in Puducherry region, nine each in Karaikal and Mahe regions and one in Yanam region.
Another 363 persons tested Covid positive and taking treatment under home isolation in all the four regions of the UT.
So far, 1,27,891 persons are infected by Coronavirus and of which 1,25,581 patients were treated and discharged, 1,857 people died and presently there are 453 active cases.
The test positivity rate in the UT is 1.25 per cent, case fatality rate is 1.45 per cent and the recovery rate is 98.19 percent.
About 11,21,645 doses of Covid vaccine were administered so far to healthcare workers, frontline workers and the general public in the Union Territory.(UNI)
