Puducherry, Mar 13 : Thirty-one more persons were tested positive for Coronavirus Disease (COVID 19) in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of infection to 40015 in the Union Territory till Saturday.

No deaths were reported during the period.

According to the Covid-19 status for Saturday released by the health department , of the 1199 swab tests taken yesterday, 31 tested positive for the virus. Total 23 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, three in Karaikal and five in Mahe region. As many as 26 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours. Total 16 of them were from Puducherry region and 10 from Karaikal.



Presently, 73 persons are being treated in Puducherry region, 11 in Karaikal, nil in Yanam and three in Mahe region.Another,104 positive cases are under home isolation in all the four regions of the union territory.

So far, 40015 persons were infected by the virus, of which 39154 were treated and discharged and 670 died leaving 191 active cases here.The case fatality rate in the UT is 1.67 percent and recovery rate 97.85 percent.

As many as 24487 persons were given the Covid vaccine so far in the union territory.This include 12367 health care workers,4273 front line workers and 7847 general public.(UNI)
