24 new Covid-19 cases in UT in past 24 hours

Puducherry, Nov 8 : As many as 24 fresh Coronavirus cases, 11 less than the previous day, have been reported in the Union Territory since the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM, Today.

No fatalities were reported in the UT during the period. The Covid infection tally rose to 1,28,224 and the death toll remained at 1,862.

According to the Covid-19 status released by the health department here, of the 1,806 swab sample tests conducted on Sunday, 24 persons tested positive for the virus.

Twenty new cases were reported in Puducherry region and four in Karaikal region.

In the last 24 hours, 49 persons were discharged and 28 of them were from Puducherry region, 12 from Karaikal region, and nine from Mahe region.

Presently, 49 patients were being treated at hospitals in Puducherry region, six in Karaikal region, two in Yanam region and eight in Mahe region.

Another 205 persons diagnosed positive for Covid were undergoing treatment in home isolation in all the four regions of the Union Territory.

So far, 1,28,224 persons are infected by Coronavirus, of which 1,26,092 patients were treated and discharged, 1,862 people died and presently there are 270 active cases.

The test positivity rate in the UT is 1.33 per cent, case fatality rate is 1.43 per cent and the recovery rate is 98.34 per cent.

About 11,39,966 doses of Covid vaccine were so far administered to the healthcare workers, frontline workers and the general public in the UT.(UNI)
