Seoul, June 8 : Fourteen people were injured Thursday as an escalator in a subway station malfunctioned, according to Yonhap news agency.One of the upward escalators at the subway station in Seongnam, some 20 km south of Seoul, ran in reverse around 8:20 a.m. local time (2320 GMT Wednesday).Three people were seriously injured in their back and legs and taken to a nearby hospital. Eleven others were under treatment for relatively minor injuries.The fire authorities and the police were investigating the exact cause of the accident based on eyewitness accounts.(UNI)
