14 new cases and one dead in the UT in 24 hours

Puducherry,Mar 15: As many as 14 more persons were tested positive for Coronavirus Disease (COVID 19) and one died in the union territory in the alst 24 hours ending at 10 AM Today taking the tally of infection to 40044 and death to 672.

According to the Covid 19 status for Today released by the health department, of the 603 swab tests taken yesterday,14 tested positive for the virus.12 new cases were reported in Puducherry region and two in Mahe region.17 persons were discharged in the last 24 hurs.Six of them were from Puducherry region,ten from Karaikal and one from Mahe region.

The lone death was reported in Puducherry region.

Presently,78 persons are being treated in puducherry region,14 in Karaikal,nil in Yanam and three in Mahe region.Another 91 positive cases are under home isolation in all the four regions of the union territory.

So far,40044 persons were infected by the virus of which 39186 were treated and discharged and 672 died leaving 186 active cases here.The case fatality rate in the UT is 1.68 percent and recovery rate 97.86 percent.

A 76 year old man ,Shivaji Rao with Cardiogenic shock,DM and HTN as comorbidities died in Jipmer yesterday due to Covid Pneumonia,ARDS,Cardiogenic shock and D12 compression fracture.

As may as 26165 persons including health care workers,front line workers and general public were so far given Covid vaccine in the UT.(UNI)
