constructing 15-minute cities in India to promote sustainable urban growth

NEW DELHI, JUNE 11 :  At a seminar on ‘New age solutions for new age problems’ at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Prof Dariusz Cichon from AGH University of Krakow proposed the concept of 15-minute cities as a solution to India’s ecological and air quality challenges.

Drawing on Poland’s successful urban project in the Kazimierz and Grzegórzki districts, Cichon highlighted the benefits of having essential services within a 15-minute walk or cycle. The project led to improved air quality through increased green spaces and reduced emissions.

Prof Mahesh Verma, Vice-Chancellor of GGSIP University, emphasised adopting global best practices and fostering startups to address India’s contemporary problems.

The seminar also saw participation from AGH University’s Prof Marek Dudek and Prof Dariusz Sala, who advocated for innovation and technology in urban development and environmental solutions.
The event gathered over 80 participants, including various university professors and experts.(UNI)
